C
In the West, some people believe that personality can be known according to the time of the year the person was born. From China comes the belief (相信) that the year of birth influences one's personality. In the past century, a new belief has developed: personality is connected with one's ABO blood group. People with blood group A, for example, are considered more likely to be serious, hard-working and quiet, while people with blood group O are likely to be popular and outgoing, yet often unable to finish what they start. Though this belief continues to be strong, some people question whether it is true.
The blood group personality theory (理論) started in Japan in 1927. The idea soon went out of fashion, but was brought back by a Japanese journalist (新聞工作者) in the 1970s. The belief is still strong in Japan and is increasingly popular in neighbouring countries. Some young Koreans have taken to the theory. A recent study showed 76 percent of Koreans aged between 13 and 64 believe in the blood group personality connection. Though a lot of Asians might believe in the blood group theory, for many it seems harmless and not something to be taken too seriously.
Is the belief true? The scientists in Asia largely dismiss the belief as a modern-day superstition (迷信). Most studies have failed to find any strong connection between blood group and personality. Generally, scientists warn against making predictions (預(yù)言) or important decisions based on this questionable theory.

答案:D
解析:根據(jù)第一段“personality is connected with one's ABO blood group. People with blood group A... while people with blood group O...”,舉例A和O型血是為了解釋性格與血型的聯(lián)系,選D。

A. The theory was taken to them.
B. The theory was lightly believed.
C. Some young Koreans liked and accepted the idea.
D. Some young Koreans stole the idea from others.
答案:C
解析:“taken to”在此處意為“開(kāi)始喜歡并接受”,結(jié)合后文“76 percent of Koreans... believe in...”,可知該句意為一些韓國(guó)年輕人喜歡并接受了這個(gè)理論,選C。
( )13. What does the underlined word "dismiss" in the last paragraph mean?
A. agree to consider
B. refuse to consider
C. expect to compare
