　　But getting accurate information isn't easy．Colleges must report crime statistics(統(tǒng)計數(shù)字)by law, but some hold back for fear of bad publicity(名聲), leaving the honest ones looking dangerous．“The truth may not always be serious, ” warns S．Daniel Carter of Security on Campus, Inc．, the nation's leading campus safety watchdog(監(jiān)視)group．

　　To help concerned parents, Carter promised to visit campuses and talk to experts around the country to find out major crime issues and effective solutions．

　　Don't be afraid to ask questions．Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it．I do that every day．Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sign of strength．It shows you have the courage to tell when you don't know something, and to learn something new．

　　And even when you’re struggling(奮斗), even when you’re discouraged (泄氣), and you feel other people have given up on you－don't ever give up on yourself．Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country．
