　　It's important to learn about protecting our environment．Here is a 5R rule for us：

1．Reduce

　　If you want to reduce waste, you should use things wisely．Millions of trees are being cut down to make paper．If everyone uses a little paper carelessly and throw it out, soon we would not have any trees left．Other things are also being wasted, and people don't know what to do with the waste in big cities．So it is necessary to reduce the waste

5．Repair

Cities and towns in 35 countries took part. The year 2012 saw 6,950 towns and cities in more than 152 countries took part in Earth Hour movement. Last year 7,000 towns and cities in more than 154 countries took part in Earth Hour. This year, WWF is calling for people across the world to take part in Earth Hour 2014 – the biggest switch-off in history.
For the eighth year, people are being asked to turn off their lights for one hour to call attention to the issue of climate change. The WWF’s organizers say climate change is one of the greatest threats(威脅) facing wildlife and nature. They also say when it comes to save energy and money, big changes start with small steps like turning out the lights.

Taking away a city's rubbish is a big job. Every day trucks come into a city to collect it. Most rubbish is made up of things we can't eat or use. If we kept these things we would soon have a mountain of rubbish.

In some cities the rubbish is collected and taken outside of city to a dump. Often the city dump is placed where the ground is low or there is a big hole. The kitchen rubbish is broken into small pieces and sent into the sewage system. The sewage system takes away the used water from toilets, bathtubs and other places.

To keep mice and flies away, some earth is used to cover the newly dumped rubbish. Later, grass may be planted on the rubbish-filled land. Finally, a house or a school may be built there, and then you'd never know that this had once been an old rubbish dump.
