　　Today was not a good day．Everything went wrong．First, I sleep late and Mom shout at me to wake up．When I went to the kitchen for breakfast, there was no cereal．I decided to have some toast instead, but I burned it．I had to eat it anyway because there was no more bread．There was no juice, either．I just had a glass of water．

　　When I was almost at the bus stop, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet, so I had to go back home and get it．Of course, I missed the bus and had to wait for the next bus．

　　I was late for school and the teacher told me to stay in the classroom at lunchtime to catch up on(彌補)the schoolwork I had missed．

　　After lunch, it was the time to give the teacher our homework．I reached into my bag to get it but it wasn’t there．I had left it at home．I was in trouble again．

　　When I got home, I went straight to my room to catch up on my homework．Mom cooked fish for dinner．She knows I don’t like fish, but she thinks it is good for her son．It was a horrible day．I hope tomorrow will be better．

　　Eleven-year-old Angela was suffering from illness which was bad to her nerve(神經)system．She was unable to walk and her movement was restricted(限制)in other ways as well．The doctors did not hold out much hope of her ever becoming better from this illness．They thought she'd spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair(輪椅)．They said that few, if any, were able to come back to normal after having this disease．The little girl was undaunted(不泄氣)．There, lying in her hospital bed, she would tell anyone who'd listen that she was surely going to be walking again some day．

　　She was taken to a better hospital in the San Francisco Bay area．Every treatment was used in her case．The doctors were pleased and encouraged by her undefeatable spirit．They taught her about imagining(想象)－about seeing herself walking．If it would do nothing else, it would at least give her hope and something helpful to do in the long waking hours in her bed．Angela would work as hard as possible in any proposed treatment．But she worked just as hard lying there carefully doing her imagining, imagining herself moving, moving, moving!

　　One day, as she was imagining her legs moving again, it seemed as if a miracle(奇跡)happened：The bed moved!It began to move around the room!She screamed out,“Look what I'm doing!Look!Look!I can do it!I moved, I moved!”

　　Of course, at this very moment everyone else in the hospital was screaming, too, and running for cover．People were screaming, equipment was falling and glass was breaking．You see, it was the San Francisco earthquake．But don't tell that to Angela．She thought firmly that she did it．And now only a few years later, she's back in school．You see, anyone who can shake the earth between San Francisco and Oakland can conquer(征服)such a little disease, can't they?
